MSDI has completed a comprehensive feasibility and development assessment to establish private healthcare delivery systems in Costa Rica. This initiative builds on a proven model refined over more than 15 years, beginning with MSDI’s early work in the People’s Republic of China.
The objective is to strengthen and complement Costa Rica’s existing healthcare infrastructure by introducing acute-care general and specialty clinics, organized within a “hub-and-spoke” network inspired by systems in developed countries like the United States.
Key supporting components include:
-
Up to three strategically located Local Access Medical Service Centers (LAMSCs)
-
A medical rehabilitation hotel
-
Integrated medical education programs for physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals
These elements are designed to ensure that future facilities are staffed by qualified, licensed personnel and positioned for long-term sustainability.
MSDI's Costa Rica Healthcare Services Development Assessment and Planning Study Includes:
-
The appropriate type, scale, and scope of facilities and clinical services to be provided.
-
The most strategically advantageous site location(s) for the proposed facilities.
-
Projections for realistic patient volume estimates to inform service capacity planning.
-
Capital development costs for Local Access Medical Service Centers (LAMSCs).
-
Projections of direct and indirect operating costs for LAMSCs and other proposed medical facilities.
-
Service pricing models to ensure sustainable operations and deliver acceptable returns on investment for project funders.
-
Comprehensive Business Development Plan and Operations Plan for LAMSCs, aligned with funder expectations and investment criteria.
-
Patient Delivery System Development Plan to support long-term facility utilization.
